Joan and Jack McKissock have been in the sport of dog obedience since the 1970's.

They are founding members of the Ottawa Valley Golden Retriever Club and have served on boards and committess with the Bytown Dog Obedience Club, The Ottawa Kennel Club  and
The Ottawa Retriever Club.

They are long-standing members of the The Canadian Kennel Club and Jack is a licensed
Obedience Trial Judge.  As well, Jack is a present member of the CKC Obedience Council,
and the Obedience Representative for Zone 5 under Thora Brown, Eastern Ontario Director
of the CKC.
The McKissock's first competitive dog was a Golden Retriever "Amber".  In 1981,
Amber earned 5 perfect scores of 200 in Open and Utility from 5 different judges!
Also that year, Amber was the 2nd Top Obedience dog in Canada, all breeds.

Many years and several goldens later, Jack is now training "Helper".
Helper acheived his MOTCH in 2003 at the age of ten and is still in training for
field and more advanced obedience titles.
ODOG was started in January of 1985 and has always had 2 goals:

-To offer "good manners" training for those dogs whose owners simply want well    behaved pets.
-To offer competitive training for Obedience Titles.  This includes comprehensive
training for the handler as well as the dog.

ODOG uses food in a limited manner - mainly as a reward for a job well done.
But the food is always accompanied with praise, so that when the food is phased out,
the dog is still willing to work to earn the praise.
